Defect
Overview
A sentient automaton who harnesses the power of elemental orbs. The Defect channels Lightning, Frost, and Dark orbs to deal passive damage and generate block. Orb management is the key skill — the more orb slots and Focus you build, the stronger your engine becomes.

Strengths & Weaknesses
✓ Strengths
- Passive orb damage means you deal damage even without attacking
- Frost orbs provide automatic Block generation every turn
- Claw build scales infinitely — no upper damage limit
- Flexible: multiple viable orb-based archetypes
✗ Weaknesses
- Orb slot limit (3 default) constrains the engine early
- Starter deck is weak before orb synergies come online
- Focus reduction from enemies can collapse the entire strategy
- Complex decision-making — easy to mismanage orb slots
Deck Archetypes
Lightning Orb Build
tier: SChannel Lightning orbs to deal automatic damage every turn, growing stronger as orb slots and Focus increase.
- Storm triggers all Lightning orbs at turn end — every turn becomes a sweep of automatic Lightning damage.
- Expand orb slots with Capacitor early; more slots means more Lightning charges running simultaneously.
- Defragment raises Focus, increasing damage for every orb type — take it once the orb engine is established.
- Generate new orbs to push older ones into Evoke position, maintaining consistent damage output each turn.
Frost / Block Build
tier: AChannel Frost orbs to build Block automatically each turn, freeing Energy for offense instead of defense.
- Glacier channels 2 Frost at once — one card fills two orb slots, raising Block generated per turn more quickly than other Frost cards.
- Expand orb slots early with Capacitor; the number of Frost orbs held directly determines how much Block you gain each turn.
- Defragment raises Focus by 1, increasing the Block amount from every Frost orb already in play.
- Buffer negates the next HP loss entirely; use it before a known big hit rather than holding it indefinitely.
- Keep a small number of Lightning orbs in the lineup so the build retains offensive output and does not stall against high-HP enemies.
Dark Orb / Loop Build
tier: ALoop Dark orbs to accumulate power over multiple turns, then evoke at the right moment for concentrated burst damage.
- Loop moves the front orb to the back, delaying its evoke and allowing Dark orbs to accumulate more power before release.
- Raising Focus with Defragment increases the damage each Dark orb deals on evoke — the higher the Focus, the greater the payoff.
- Consuming Shadow generates a Dark orb each time an enemy is killed, keeping the orb supply topped up without extra card plays.
- Time evokes carefully — a Dark orb that has built up power over several turns deals significantly more damage than a freshly channeled one.
Claw Build
tier: BA 0-cost attack deck that cycles rapidly through the draw pile, using each Claw play to permanently raise all Claws' damage over the course of the run.
- Each Claw played permanently raises all Claws' damage by +2 — having more copies in the deck means faster growth per cycle.
- Prioritize cycling cards such as Scrape and FTL over filling the deck with too many 0-cost attacks; consistent access to Claw matters more than raw card count.
- All for One retrieves every 0-cost card from the draw pile at once, enabling the highest single-turn damage output the build can produce.
- Frost orbs generate Block every turn automatically, letting you shore up defense without spending attack slots on defensive cards.
Status Anomaly Build
tier: CTurn Status generation into damage and orb output by pairing Flak Cannon with Trash to Treasure and Rocket Punch.
- Flak Cannon deals 8 damage per status exhausted — holding off for a few turns to accumulate statuses before firing produces higher burst damage.
- Overclock or TURBO generates a status on the same turn it is played, letting Rocket Punch be used at 0 cost immediately after for 13 damage and a card draw.
- Trash to Treasure alone sustains orb generation even without Flak Cannon, making the build functional whenever status-generating cards are available.
- Compact converts surplus status cards in hand into Block between Flak Cannon uses, so statuses sitting in hand are never wasted.
